Single Session Counselling

Single Session Counselling

Single Session Counselling  for couples or individuals

If the problem is not able to be dealt with in one session, more is available

Single session counselling is the opportunity for couples or individuals to address their problems as the situation arises. Something may happen, or reach bursting point, and it needs sorting out. However, you know you have little success on your own. This then may be the occasion when you want one session only, to get an independent, professional perspective.

The Counsellor will attempt to help you in the single session. It will be important though, for both you and the counsellor to agree that more is available if necessary. This may be in the form of one-off sessions as needed if one isn’t sufficient.

Counselling for a specific problem

Single session counselling is available for couple or individual relationships where people either haven’t the finances for continued counselling or have a single issue they would like to discuss and resolve with the help of a professional. It is an opportunity to concentrate and focus on what you want to achieve by the end of the session.

Getting straight to the point

In effect, the counselling process will be condensed into the one session, if possible. This will involve exploring what is happening, understanding the reasons behind it and learning what action to take to change it.

How it works

As it is a single session, I will try and make the appointment as soon as possible especially if it is urgent. It may help if a couple can think about what they most need to work through before the counselling session starts.

Sometimes ongoing clients who finish their counselling find it helpful to book regular but infrequent sessions as a top up. Then they  know they can discuss problems arising during this time and keep themselves on track. This could be every six weeks, two months or longer – what  suits the clients best.
